Road movie from Austria to Scotland. A long journey by car from Austria to Scotland, a chance encounter, two lonely souls, two personalities – two worlds that seem to be polar opposites.
Iga, who recently broke up with her boyfriend, is travelling by car. She wants to spend lonely, contemplative days on the motorway, but her plans are thwarted at a petrol station by Ethan, who asks her if she could give him a lift. After some initial hesitation, she agrees. Music comes up repeatedly between the two, but the radio in Iga's car is broken, so they fill the silence with conversations that bring them closer together bit by bit. As the car moves along with the flow of traffic, the two travellers are searching for their destination. Images of traffic signs, signposts and headlights passing by blend with the atmospheric sounds of the soundtrack. Iga and Ethan are forced to break the silence, which in such a situation becomes unbearable within seconds, with conversation. Each of them is willing to learn something from the other, and so they quickly move from small talk about musical tastes and eyewear fashion to the fundamental: the widespread despair in the face of the general circumstances.
